Helping Kdesvn
Currently I develop mostly alone. And I have my personal reasons not putting it into the KDE repository. But that means that sometimes developing moves slow. So if interested in help you may take a look on the items below.
Subversion accounts
Every trac account here may work as a subversion account, too. So if you plan helping a little bit longer or more you may create an account here and than tell me about and what you plan. Than I will give you the commit rights. Don't forget to set a valid email address, all communication about an account I'll do with that email. And resetting passwords will work only with such an address, too.
If you just have a patch, you may send it to me, see below.
Code and patches
The most important thing to do is porting to kde 4. 'Cause it cost a lot time it would be great if some of you may take a look into the kde4 port branch.
Of course patches and hints are always welcome. Best you make it via the bugtracker and ticket sytem of this site.
Translations
- Check out the latest version of kdesvn. Best is you may use the trunk, not the branches.
- Inside the subdirectory "po" you will find a file "kdesvn.pot". Copy this to <language-code>.po where language-code> is the two letter country- and language-code KDE uses. You may take a look on http://i18n.kde.org/docs/translation-howto/starting-translation.html, too.
If the translation file exists and you just want to update it than just see next points. - Edit the new file with "kbabel", don't forget to insert the information about the translator ;). Of course you may use any other editor than kbabel - but I'm sure with kbabel it is easier and it results in less errors.
- Send this file to me, if you edited an existing translation you may send me a patch instead (best made with subversion-diff, than I see the revision made against). Or you want get a subversion account so you may commit yourself.
Documentation
For a developer it is hard to write documentations. We know what we did, we have our special view on our software. And we have no time for it ;) Feel free edit the handbook of kdesvn and send me patches (or again: ask for an account). If you don't want edit xsl-based-docbook you may send me textblocks as simple ascii - I'll insert it.
Donations
Some people asked how to donate for kdesvn. Well, you must not donate. kdesvn is free. It is a project helps me in my daily work, helps me, keeping up2date with knowledge.
If you realy want to honor my work, feel free searching trough my Amazon wishlist. But money I'll not take. Many thanks to those of you sending me something (books from wishlist, gift coupons) - I were real glad about.
