Ticket #99 (closed enhancement: fixed)

Add folder navigation bar (like e.g. in KMail or more to the point: LinCVS)

Reported by: mgdde Owned by: alwin
Priority: low Milestone: not applicable
Component: UI/KPart Version: 1.2.x
Severity: feature Keywords:

Description

The current repository view sports a single window with all folders, some of which may be expanded and some not. This is very helpful and should remain as such.

However for large repositories with lots of folders navigating between different folders could be enhanced by providing a special navigation pane that basically is identical to the current column labeled "Name" in a seperate pane. There only folders are displayed. The current pane basically remains as is only it displays exactly the content of the folder selected in the navigation pane (it is linked to the navigation pane).

Both views should be selectable, preferably on a per repository basis (and there should be a default view ;).

A different view-mode is planned, this should look like konquerors one with folder-tree on the left and normal iconview in the middle (bigger icons). But as you know - there is always other stuff to do....

This is already readily achivable by using the kdesvn plugin in konqueror, no?

  • Summary changed from Add folder navigation bar (like e.g. in KMail) to Add folder navigation bar (like e.g. in KMail or more to the point: LinCVS)

No (or at least I don't know how)

I wish to see _only_ my svn projects in the navigation bar and I don't want them all in one physical place).

If you ever used lincvs you know what I mean. In fact while writing this I probably should not have chosen "KMail" but "lincvs" as comparing app.

I could achieve something similar by adding all these to the bookmark list and that's what I'm doing now but it is not the same from a useability PoV (or so I think).

  • Milestone changed from not applicable to 0.14.x

hm. I think I know what you want:

  1. The bookmarks should handled as shortcuts
  2. From within the shortcuts you want walk trough underlaying folders
  3. Inside this navigation pane you'll want see always the current state (modified, updates enabled etc.) of your shortcuts.

I'll think about how to handle it. I'll think it should synchronized with bookmarks (in fact most people like more that bookmarks than such a shortcut view in mainwindow).

Of course such shortcut pane will not visible when kdesvn is used as part in other applications.

I'll assign it to next release, I think a short version (without status information) will possible.
