Is it possible that you access the repository with ssh-protocoll? Looks like background is waiting for an authentication it never gets

No no no. If I run from the console (for example):

#svn checkout  svn+ssh://login@<server>/path/to/trunk

is no problem.

ie Once I enter this command - the server I require authentication (requires password). I enter the password and the server gives me a fresh cut from SVN.

The problem comes when I do it from KDESVN!!Also the same problem appears in QSVN (and something similar in QtCreator?).

Which kind of password? The user-login on the server or the password for the local authentication key?

This is a difference.

Problem behind: When auth against the local ssh-key (where the public part is stored on server) the system use another mechanism which let guis ask for a password with a dialog.

When using ssh with a telnet-like auth so you have to enter the password assigned to the user on server ssh has no callback mechanism svn may use within guis. So no prompt can appear, authentication fails and you'll this unknown error.

This moment I have no idea how to setup a workaround for the last situation, 'cause it is real tricky - so it will not done next days. You may use the authkey mechanism of ssh (which is the more secure way btw.) so you problems should disappear.

Ok I must correct myself.

I'd tested it, kdesvn will - when not started from console - show a password prompt, ssh changed it behavior meanwhile so the environment variables will accepted for simple auth, too.

So I have no idea whats going wrong in your case.

[quote] Which kind of password? The user-login on the server or the password for the local authentication key? /quote ie my steps: 1. enter in a terminal (example):

#svn checkout  svn+ssh://MyNick@scm.fireforge.net/svnroot/qserialdevice

2. press enter 3. further in the terminal line appear something like: #svn checkout  svn+ssh://MyNick@scm.fireforge.net/svnroot/qserialdevice Enter password: 4. i enter pass and press enter:

#svn checkout  svn+ssh://MyNick@scm.fireforge.net/svnroot/qserialdevice Enter password: here my pass

5. then again you are prompted for a password and I enter the password and I press "enter" (see p.3, p.4) 6. only then starts to load SVN project

--- No key is not using. My username and password stored on the server (ie I myself writing the username and pass in the "checkout", ie in a dialogue with the terminal.) --- Before (when KDESVN worked for me), then in the process of "checkout" I get a dialogue GUI in order that I entered the password (This window appears 2 times in the same manner as in the terminal there is a string "Enter password:")! But now (after I updated his distribuliv GNU / Linux) - I have this GUI dialogue does not appear, but I get dialog GUI an error (the one I wrote above). --- I've got nothing from the GUI (GUI for subversion) is not working. --- I have not changed anything in the settings and configuration files at all!

PS: I apologize for my English, but I think you understand me :)
